In this introductory workshop, you will learn how to make your own artist quality paints.
By using authentic raw materials, the crafting of various types of paint will be demonstrated including gum tempera, casein and egg tempera along with more familiar mediums. A wide variety of natural and non toxic pigments will be available to try giving you a deeper understanding of the processes involved.
You will also learn how to make your paint impasto to give texture, how to make make simple granulated paints and paints using clay bodies to give beautiful pastel shades.
The day will also feature pigment mixing to create different colours with plenty of time to experiment throughout the day.
Participants will go home with a range of handmade paints, samples and swatches, and many recipes to continue making paints at home.
