Alders can be an often overlooked tree, growing in ‘harrs’ in misty boggy places. But they are trees full of mystery and magic and for us, they are trees that offer an abundance of colour.
Once the alder cones have spread their seed, we harvest the empty cones and make a beautiful rich ink. The cones create a yellow dye and a brown ink, which, when mixed with indigo ink, reveal it’s yellow in the mossy green the two make together.
As an ink from trees, the colour is very light fast and can darken on the page.
Please note: all our inks contain clove oil as a preservative.
AND… every bottle of ink from OMA comes with a free reed pen!
