After a tip off from a friend, and a coincidental falling of a hemlock tree in a storm, we learnt of the joys of hemlock root bark.
The incredible red of the root bark translates into a rich burnt red ink, and as it’s from a tree, has excellent light fastness.
We harvested the root bark when it had not long fallen, and when comes the time for ink making, we re-hydrate the bark and once again bring this ink to life.
Please note: all our inks contain clove oil as a preservative.
