Historical Ink Set

£24.00

This unique combination of inks, Indigo, Sappenwood and Oak Gall Iron, gives a window into the colours in use during the medieval period and beyond.

These light fast plant inks would have been used in illuminated manuscripts as with skill and devotion. Oak gall and iron ink was the standard choice of ink for all hand written documents, and even led to the introduction of the gall wasp in the 1800’s to Britain.

We take care to make our inks rich in colour, and use plants that have very good to excellent light fastness. Each bottle of ink is 10ml.

All the ingredients in our inks are biodegradable and where possible, organically grown or foraged. All our packaging is reusable, fully recyclable and biodegradable.

Our indigo plant pigment was organically grown and processed by Tarai blue, find out more at https://indigodesign.in/pages/about-us

Please note: all our inks contain clove oil as a preservative.
