Historical Writing Pack
Our historical writing packs have been handcrafted in the OMA studio, using materials we have grown, found and foraged.
Each writing pack includes:
A handmade notebook with a plant paper cover and bound with naturally dyed wool.
Historical Oak Gall ink sealed with beeswax from Galloway.
Bamboo and reed pens both with plant ‘lids', foraged in Dumfries and Galloway.
A wild clay, wood fired ink well, sealed with beeswax from Galloway.
The historical oak gall ink included in this pack is a rich dark black writing ink used traditionally for most written documents due to it’s permanency. The ink has a wonderful quality of darkening over time, watch how the ink turns from a grey to a black as it oxidizes on the page.
The wild clay ink well has been made using foraged clay and fired using a technique similar to traditional pit firing. The ink well has then been sealed with beeswax from a local beekeeper.
