Colours of the Earth: Pigment, Paint making workshop OMA STUDIO, 8th August
*15% reduction on any workshops when booking more than one, please get in touch to receive the discount code.
In this workshop you will explore the empowering crafts of making your own earth pigments and set of beautiful watercolour paints. You will experience the magical transformation of turning foraged stones, earth and clay, into rich pigments, then turn those foraged pigments into your own high quality handmade paints.
Making your own pigments is an act of rebellion and remembering. It reclaims the artist as colour maker, and reminds us of the long arc of history that came before pre-made paints became so dominant. These age-old crafts open up immense possibilities in art making, they have the potential to reweave us back into landscape and back into cultures of connection.
For this workshop we have collaborated with Woman of the Woods, a D&G based crafts person making exquisite wooden hand crafted wares using locally sourced wood. Exclusively for this workshop, Rachel, aka Woman of the Woods, has crafted a wooden palette for you to fill throughout the day, and to take home filled with your own hand crafted watercolours.
You will also go home with in-depth notes and a pigment resource card which will enable you to carry on these crafts at home/in the studio.
This workshop works well with the workshop on the 9th August, as it gives you a basis in pigment making which can be used in pastel making.
Suitable for complete beginners and/or experienced art makers who would like to develop their skills in making art materials.
