In this workshop you will learn the fundamentals of what watercolour paint is and what it is made from.
Throughout the day you will make and build up a unique palette of water colours that you can take home with you at the end of the workshop in your own paint tin. We aim to make around 8 colours - 12 colours for you to take home, however there aren’t any limits on what you can create.
During the workshop you will learn what pigments are, where they come from and how they are turned into paint through combinations of ingredients. We will have a wide selection of pigments for you to choose from, enabling you mix, match and test out, to create exactly the tones and colours you enjoy.
The day with include learning how to make a traditional water colour binder from various tree gums and what to add to the gum to make that unique quality of water colours (and gouache) of being able to be re-hydrated.
Alongside the creating of your own set of paints there will be some teaching of colour theory and painting of colour charts to demonstrate how colours relate to each other.
