Nature Based Creativity and Art making: including crafting creative materials - GRACEFIELD ARTS CENTRE, 19th/20th/21st August

£195.00

Treat yourself to 3 days of creative absorption using the Old Mill Arts collection of art materials and learn how to make your own along the way. In this multi-day workshop, you will be guided through how to make various arts and craft materials from nature, how to use and enjoy their beautifully calming qualities, and experience their wonderful abundance, without having to worrying about waste.

During the three days, you will make your own paper from A3 to A7, embedding bits and pieces of images, plants and drawings. You will make your own inks and practise mark making and writing. You will explore the range of colours and textures possible from an accessible range of handmade natural colours.

You will be guided through basic principles of natural dyeing for use in art making, make your own paint using non toxic binders and craft tools for effective mark making.

The intention of this multi-day workshop is to approach the traditional crafts of art material making from the perspective of creativity. The focus will be on where these materials and techniques can take you, rather than how to perfect a particular art material, allowing you to relax into creativity and have fun crafting colour with the multidisciplinary guidance of Old Mill Arts.

You will go home with pieces that you can continue to work on, perhaps some you would like to hang on a wall, and most importantly, the confidence to continue experimenting with the direct experience of the huge potential of handmade, nature based arts and craft materials.
