In this unique workshop you will paint designs inspired by the Book of Miracles and experience making tempera paints with genuine and replica pigments from this period.

The Book of Miracles is a late medieval heavily illustrated book of mystical and prophetical stories from the Old Testament. This intriguing book is full of mystical imagery and visual story telling in the stylised fashion of this period.

Recently republished by Taschen, there will be copies of the book to view, as well as a short talk on the significance of the book, highlighting some fascinating pages.

These unique historical series of workshops from Old Mill Arts bring documents such a The Book of Miracles to life through a wide collection of genuine pigments and knowledge of binders used across time. This is a chance to learn more about this period, getting to know historical works through practical application, making them relatable to our modern experience.
